we just rebuilt it again about a year a go.

my friend Irjanto from Surabaya sent me pics of his bike.
its an 1909 FN four.
yes, FN the guns company.

I stole some data from the net:
In 1899 FN made shaft and chain driven bicycles, and in 1900 experimented with a clip-on engine. In December 1901 the first 133 cc single cylinder motorcycle was built, followed in 1903 by a shaft driven 188 cc single cylinder motorcycle. In 1904 a 300 cc single cylinder motorcycle was produced. In 1909 the two speed singles had camshafts to open the inlets, instead of the earlier “automatic” valves. Starting from 1912 the singles had a hand lever clutch and foot pedal rear brake.

In 1905 the first 362 cc shaft drive in-line FN inlet-over-exhaust four cylinder motorcycle appeared, designed by Paul Kelecom. This was the world's first manufactured four cylinder motorcycle. By 1907 the Four engine had grown to 412 cc, and that year's single cylinder 244 cc FN motorcycle was the first bike with a multiple ratio belt drive system, using a patented variable size engine pulley. For 1908, the US Export model began manufacture. The Four had a 493 cc engine, and in 1910 that became 498 cc. This bike weighed 75 kg (165 lb) dry, and could do 40 mph (64 km/h).The 1913 Fours had a two speed gearbox and clutch, at the rear of the shaft drive, and bicycle pedals were permanently replaced with footrests from then on. For 1914 the FN “Type 700” 748 cc Four was released, with the gearbox at the rear of the engine.

the return of the Super Glide

in 1971, Harley produced this beauty...its called Super glide but many call it a boat tail.

35 years later in 2006, they produced the anniversary of Dyna with the same paint scheme...very nice bike.
I always wanted to build one from the first time I saw it.

with a bot tail off course!
I don't know much about computer graphics mambo jumbo but I remember it was a long night in front of my computer...dreamin someday I will chop an Anniversary Dyna!

Lucky me...she came to my shop..
it was one of the first Rocket motor company project

you see that 35 badge on the oil tank?
yes,its an Anniversary Dyna.

stock engine was enough just added a pro tuner,good brakes and better suspension.

clip on handle bars,stock tank,a bit wider wheels and a boat tail..that's enough.
its a fun machine,easy to handle,quick response and I can stop whenever I want.

my friend took this picture about a month ago...and its the only photo of it that was taken from a real Camera, others just took from my cheap Blackberry.
I don't carry a real camera and take some nice pictures of my built.
I wish I could, but I don't have a nice Camera...
I will buy a nice camera someday,but that means Im gonna need to learn how to use it.
but its been fun lately, some new projects on the work and a lot of things going on.
I will post more of this bike soon I get a real photos.

got some emails asking about this Dyna, so here it is:

yes, it is a stock frame.
I only cut the seat section and mount a single shock on the stock swingarm.

I have some Mustang tank laying around my shop.
so I cut one Tank and split it for the gas tank.
and then I cut another one and use it as the tail that also holds the battery and electrical.

since its a Dyna, its got oil pan under the tranny so we got free room under the seat.
Oh ya, I was working on a V rod when I started to mount the girder front end on this Dyna...
So I was just playing around and mount the V rod fairing real close to the tire, and since its a girder...its possible to mount it real close because the fork moves together with the tire.

in this photo you can see that I used two similar tank, I just chopped it differently.
I moved the brakes o the left by using Sprocket brake with stock belt.

I wish I have more photos, but we already did some photo shoot for some magazines so stay tuned!

This is the Sportster that I built for my friend Andy.

its got 23 inch wheels front and rear.

with this kind of suspension, the front tire looks really close to the headlight.
check out the old Morris gas cap on that brushed stainless steel gas tank.

to make the evo motor looks more classic, I use S.U carb with Mooneyes air filter.

I design the inverted brake pedal to match the inverted hand lever.

oh ya, the exhaust also made out of stainless steel.

I really like how the exhaust wrapped the back bone of the frame.

from here you can see that the back bone is a single loop from the neck all the way to the rear engine mount.

I use perimeter brake to stop both wheels and mounted it on the right side since Sportster got a right side drive pulley.

so, from the left side you can see the wheel looks clean thanks to the front spool hub.

Clear pulley was the only way to make the rear wheel almost as clean as the front wheel.

I tried to make both tires as close as possible to the engine.

the curve on the tube under the gas tank got the same curve with the rear section of the frame.

the exhaust bracket also holds the brushed stainless steel fender.
why left side exhaust? because here in Jakarta we drive on the left side of the road.
I want "in your face" exhaust when pass other guys from the right side.

I was on the way to La Verne when I decided to swing by to Azusa.
I thought it will be nice to visit my friend Shinya Kimura at Chabott Engineering.

it's not just about the look, proportion

or period correct and expensive parts....or fuckin trend.

it's about mechanical art,

your craftsmanship

to make something real,

a three dimensional of your idea

about shape of horse power,speed,function

and also the display of your fabricating skills

and the connection of it all from any angle based on your Imagination.

so we have no rights to judge it but appreciate it,with respect.

for me, it doesn't matter what kind of style that you like.
always the process that can thrilled me,

I picked up Ade from Airport and went west side to check out some cars.

just got some new pics of this bike from my friend Tigor...he's the one who snapped it.
This is the Panhead that I built for my good friend Desu.
took me about a year to built this bike.
We love the frame so much so we decided to polished it, and from there we found that the old 1948 frame need a lot of work.
but its not everyday we work on a complete Panhead.
so after hundreds hours of welding, grinding, polishing, dremmeling etc...
we got a bottle neck frame that smooth as a baby's butt.
after that we thought, why not we chrome the frame?
even we were sure that its gonna be hard to choose the right color for this bike.

I really like the art deco style on the headlight...I think its an Electroline from the 20's.

The seat is the first color that I have, from there I kept searching for the right color for the gas tank and the fender.
because its got many aluminum color on this bike...I had to mix the paint so its not too over done.
yeah,metal flake with pinstripe just wont go with this bike.
after about twenty something choices...finally I decided champagne thin line and Candy Brandy Burgundy wine.
but it has to go with the leather color.

I modified the Radir hubcap for the gascap.
just to matched the Radir wheels that we use with Firestone tire.

the Engine...
its an Original matching number 1948 Panhead Motor that I rebuilt.
With Morris Magneto and L series Carburetor and CCE finned rocker boxes.
I use the Beehive oil filter for the oil tank and another ribbed oil cooler for the reservoir.
I use sprocket brake for Jakarta's traffic with a help from Duo Glide Master Cylinder.
the foot control...I use the pipe that supposed to be used for Mechanical Drum brake as a mount.
and then I made a pair of vintage style levers for brake and the foot clutch.

TZ 750

so I was reading this magazine, and they talked about the TZ 750.
and I was thinking about many people said fast and too fast.
but I prefer fast enough ( but I still admire all ).

in 1975, Yamaha put a TZ 750 engine in their dirt trackers to try and beat Harley's XR 750.
the TZ is a two stroke motor...so its like twice as many firings per revolution as with four stroke motors, so its like a 1500cc motor on a Flat Track!
even too fast for "King Kenny" Roberts that he said his famous quote : " they don't pay me enough to ride that thing".
two months later, AMA banned the bike.
the photo is King Kenny him self, Rode that bike again after almost 35 years.

so, was it faster than Harleys xr 750 ? you bet.
but why xr 750 dominated the two cylinder flat tracks?
I think because they fast enough...
so anything that faster than it will be too dangerous and gets banned.

I don't know shit about two stroke motors, all I know is I love the sound of the big two stroke motors since my friend Andre Jess did a Wheelie with his CR 250 Honda in front of me about 12 years a go.
and off course, they have smoke.

Panhead style rocker boxes on an Evo motor...some sez its a cheap imitations...some sez its a reliable retro looking motors...

but back in the 1966, they came out with these cast aluminum rocker box for panhead.

so your panhead will look like a new motor : Shovelhead!
Cheap? I don't know about what people said back in the mid 60's...
but today, with the "period correct" craze....you can buy it on Ebay for $1200 (starting bid).
so....wrong period, a classy super rare parts...or we just need a time machine.

for me, building bikes and ride it with good friends is part of my life.
and I'm lucky that its part of my job too...
in my shop, people come and go but good friends stay.
some used to say fuck evo, some are buying old Japanese bikes.
it's just getting more exciting!

yea, the background! is that a Taxi? in my shop?

nope....check out more taxi in the background, because it is located at a Taxi Pool.
this photo is from a month before the first photo.

the 20incher was too big for the Nova, but I had to go to Bali and there are no rooms left at my shop.
So, why not tell them what to do and leave it to them?
Because the owner also go to the Taxi office sometimes.

Hey, not bad....
now it can turn and travel freely.
